Test Information

Purpose of Test
Proof:
— Overspeed - ensure rotor integrity by testing to a speed above operating speed
— Pre-spin - test to a speed which induces plastic growth in the rotor bore and rim (also known as pre-stressing)
Burst - determine component ultimate failure speed
Containment - evaluate capability of containment structure to contain rotor burst
Low Cycle Failure - establish rotor life by repeatedly cycling from idle to operational speeds
Radial Growth Measurement - measure rotor growth, ID and OD, at speed
Strain Measurement - measure rotor strain levels at speed
Other - describe desired test
