Test Devices announces that it has successfully demonstrated thermal mechanical fatigue capability on a jet engine component. Under a R&D project, Test Devices ran several TMF cycles on a compressor stage rotor, synching a rim to bore temperature gradient with speed. The combined temperature gradient (hot at the rim, cooler in the bore) simulated the TMF cycle the component experiences in the field. The success of this program represents a huge technological advancement in the area of component spin testing. By combining the thermal and centrifugal stresses, this test offers customers advanced component fatigue capability, providing more accurate data about component fatigue life.
